Hair extensions are not damaging at all. As a matter of fact, they are considered a protective style. The only time that hair extensions start to become damaging is when the initial foundation of the install is too tight. The braids are tight and adding the extension puts more weight and tension on the edges and the crown of the head and therefore creates breakage. When you go to take the hair extensions out it looks more like breakage rather than a regular hair shedding. Speaking about taking extensions out, the duration of how long the extension is left in the hair can also cause damage to the hair. When leaving extension in for a long time longer than a few months without taking it down and refreshing it causes the hair to get matted and tangled and is often time cut off because of the severity of the hair entanglement. So never wear your hair extensions for too long without getting them retouched, and make sure that your install is not too tight causing your edges and crown to start breaking off. Let's keep the conversation going. Comment on an experience you've had when your hair extensions have been damaging, or have they helped your hair to grow?
